We could count the days we spent with you
And mourn how briefly you were here.
But that would miss the point of your short stay.

Better to remember how each day
Was filled with love and how you drew
From us all that is good we have to give.

You trod gently on this earth - did no harm.
Only your plight - not you - has saddened us.
If counting days, of course we wanted more for you.
But if we're totting up: in terms of love and kindness,
Compassion, peace - you lived a life as full as anyone.
