  1. I'm going to have to go back to read that Gruaniad Jonathan Franzen piece. The Corrections was excellent.

I once went to a very bleak record fair in Cromer.

  2. How do, Mrs. G. Hope all is fine and dandy in the Mr & Mrs Geoff household.

Yes, I really enjoyed The Corrections - anything that gives advanced warning on how to cope with Alzheimers is warmly welcomed in our house... Yes, it's worth a read the Grauniad bit. Oh, and those guilt-reduction pills....yep, 'ave some of those...

A bleak record fair: sorry Bettster, does not commute. You mean there was no James Last there *whatsoever*...?

  3. "Opaque as figures of angels painted in gold...",
'sounds like Halifax on a Saturday night.

  4. My guess is that's where our Mazza'd be of a Saturday night Tone. 12 bottles of Mackesons, a Ruby Murray and a quick knee trembler in the alley behind the Peking Deep Fly Flishbar before skiving back on the last tram home to throw it all up behind her auntie Renee's settee.

Go to church and repent it all of a Sunday - you know the drill.

  5. Thanks for the mention on the Jellycast, and the wonderful Chic track. By the way, Seal has done a crap version of A Change Is Gonna Come which has been released "by complete coincidence, no, honestly" at the same time as the Obama victory. First of all, it's a tacky cash in, and, secondly, there are a handful of songs that you just don't mess with, and that's one of them. Send him to the gallows, then.

  6. Mon plaisir Bettster - glad you liked it.

Notwithstanding my own recent 'commemorative' cover version of 'Young, Gifted & Black'(out now folks - and remember; all proceeds go to the Barack Obama Home for the Chronically Gender-Confused - once I've skimmed off my 70 %, obviously. *Expenses* dear boy, *expenses*...), I'll have no truck with the tacky 'election of the first black President of the United States' tir in meself. Still, it's an ill wind... At least with the shitloads of money this will generate, old Seal pup might be able to afford to have a few more shards removed. Also, the prospect of a blacked up Presidents of the United States of America performing a Peaches/'Mammy' style medley grows ever more tantalising...

  7. Darling Swipesterrossimo

Thank you for your dedo Our Kid - made me have a little weep into me 'Buie Breezer actually. That was a really magical day and one which was for some reason I have always logged in my head as a 'growing up' milestone. The stuffed cabbage was arduous to prepare but delicious by the way. And yes - you have to peel it off leaf by leaf and then roll up a concoction in it and then smoke it really really haaaard. No - of course you don't - you have to bake it. xxx

Word verif: duckatit (you couldn't amke it up could you?)

  9. Ah - glad you enjoyed that little stroll down memory lane. Yes, it seems very surreal to me now - that we actually *saw* David Bowie! I remember queueing up to go in and hearing Carlos Alomar soundchecking - a huge roar going up when he played the guitar break from 'Young Americans'. He waved at me, you know, I'm convinced of it...

I was going to say - I haven't smoked in about 10 years; at least, not any legumes...

    Be in touch soon...

  10. I've just ticked the 'twaddle' box. I thought it may have been my mistake at first until I saw the word verif: menvidos.

    That's Portugese for 'gay porn'.

  11. Yes, that was a typo Ister - was meant to read 'Waddle'. Didn't have room for Pearce, Southgate etc.

I was hoping someone would start using my new ratings feature. As you'll see, there are only three stars in my system. And you got two. On a first date. In the back of a coach...
