Duane Eddie kicks Bob Fripp off the axeman's stool on "Heroes", while Joe Meek and Eno fight over the mixing console. Bowie remains sanguine throughout, smirking away as Morrissey takes care of the vocal duties...

Hmmm....very experimental, approach wise? love the disjointed feel to it and I can't help but think of Elvis Costello every time I hear your voice. Don't know if that's a compliment or not? but after hearing several of your songs now.....I recognize a certain style developing and perhaps a few influences in there as well...
ReplyDeleteWho do you listen to the most these days?
Thanks Jifster. The Costello things is a *definite* compliment.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I'm listening mainly to me (work, obviously - you don't think it gives me *any* pleasure at all do you?), Syd Barrett, Girl Groups. I like Camera Obscura of the newer stuff, but I'm doing a lot of mix checking etc., so not too much room for general listening at the moment. Will have a binge soon, I hope, when I've recorded my 'masterpiece'...

p.s. There was a Duke Ellington in the cast too, I recall - Take the A' Train. From Live at Newport, 1956 - a classic. Check out Paul Gonsalves' 25 bar solo on Diminuendo in blue/Crescendo in Blue. Stunning.
Your voice has definite influences from Ferry and Bowie.
